Biography

Léo Grunstein (1988) is a graphic designer, based in Paris and Lyon. After graduating in 2013 from La Cambre Arts Visuels (Brussels), he joined the team of graphic designer Philippe Apeloig in Paris. He worked alongside him for seven years for various clients such as the Yves Saint Laurent Museum in Marrakech and the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode.

Since 2018, Léo has been carrying out his own projects in parallel, before becoming freelance in 2020. He works mainly in the cultural sector, for publishing houses, galleries and museums. Recently, he created the catalog Maillol for the Musée d’Orsay and Gallimard (2022) and the catalog Matisse in the 1930’s (2022) for the Philadelphia Art Museum and musée de l’Orangerie. For Flammarion editions, he designed the catalog Children of Impressionism (2023), as well as the monograph Thomas Bastide (2023).
He regularly collaborates with Réunion des musées nationaux – Grand Palais, on the design of advertising campaigns, visual identities for exhibitions and catalogs.

In 2022, artists Elvire Caillon and Léonard Martin asked Léo to design expressive and dynamic motion graphics for their show K minuscule, to express the play part of this show without spoken words.

In 2023, at the invitation of Chris Dercon, exhibition curator and director of Fondation Cartier, Léo imagined the catalog and signage for the Panorama 25 exhibition for Le Fresnoy – Studio national des arts contemporains. That same year, the weaving and jersey company Sfate & Combier–Guigou invites Léo Grunstein to imagine a capsule collection between textile and typography.
